Planning and Controls

The property is subject to planning controls managed by the City of Westminster Planning and City Development Team. An extensive file relating to the property is held at City Hall, containing planning applications, correspondence and related issues dating back to the 1950s. The South East Bayswater Residents' Association is active in relation to local planning activities [we are a member as of 3/7/2008].

Building control cases can be found from the Westminster Building Control site.

Planning applications can be found from the Westminster Planning site.

FENSA registrations can be found from the FENSA Homeowner site.

Bayswater Conservation Area

The property is located within the Bayswater Conservation Area which was first designated in 1967 and subsequently extended in 1978, 1990 and 2002. This means that additional efforts are taken to retain the unique character of the area and its buildings. In practice, the result is that there are greater controls and restrictions on visible works to properties, such as the facade, doors, windows, etc. For example, planning permission is usually required even when external doors are replaced in a conservation area.

Listed Buildings

The property is not a Listed Building. It was constructed in the mid 1970s to conform the facade of the previous building, which was constructed in the 1800s.

London Squares

Craven Hill Gardens is listed as a space protected by the London Squares Preservation Act 1931. This includes both north (The Hempel Hotel) and south (Corringham) squares.
